I think that the ability to limit as you mention is superb. And yes, we do remember the trauma of SL events, and those there to ruin them.

Spammers is a good word, although I think they called those providing the crashing flying erotica prim particles \"griefers\". No matter how you view it, any sort of event permission limiting sounds like a good deal to me. As this proceeds, I think there will be quite a few new ideas and suggestions in this area of the work.
I also agree that events is the \"glue\" that holds the community together. And that events both front-end, the search, etc.. for events will be a paramount part of the component. Very much looking forward to this phase.
For the front-end Joomla, and as we discussed briefly, I think a module for latest events would be great. Not so much a calendar type of module, but maybe a text scroll type module (news ticker type?), or something along those lines that would grab the latest advertised events. This might have some sort of a simple configuration as to how many to scroll, what dates or times, or maybe \"all\" and most recent advertised. This module wouldn\'t have to be fancy to be effective I don\'t believe.
