jOpenSimMoney

jOpenSimMoney is an upcoming extension specific addon for jOpenSim for an easy economy handling in your grid. Currently it is in a very early alpha release status and still needs a lot of testing. jOpenSimMoney will NOT be a free of charge addon and even the exact licence model is still under construction.

So far, following functions for sure will be implemented:

• buy and sell land
• buy and sell objects
• give money
• upload fee
• group creation fee
• group enrollment fee

Following functions are under construction and planned to be implement in the first release:

• fee for "classified" in profile
• fee for "Show Place in Search" in land options
• cover fee for events
• fee for "partnering"
• support in scripts for "llGiveMoney()"
• some interface for "buy currency" (maybe to PayPal for the beginning)

I currently try to release jOpenSim version 0.2.1 as soon as possible, which will be prepared already for the currently developed functions of the money extension.

After that I plan to develop the other functions of jOpenSimMoney together with jOpenSim 0.2.2 and hope it will be ready for public within approx the next 6 months.

I have to admit, that the release of 0.2.1 is now already a bit delayed due to some other stuff, that keeps me busy. But I try my best to publish this as soon as possible

you said not free of charge... how much are you going to charge for it?

This currently still not clear yet. Also the licence model is still in work ...

Will we be able to make real life money from this ... ?
Or just play money ... ?

It depends on other circumstances than jOpenSim if you're able to make real money out of it or not

In the first stage, you will be able to change the users balance manually from some admin panel. No PayPal implementation or similar will be made.

Of course in some futuring stage, such possibilities are planned. But before this even can be thought of, the absolute priority is on the security of the entire module.

if you need help with the paypal api, just let me know ^^ i will give you an example ^^ i made one some weeks ago and it run´s very fine

If you read exactly, I wrote ... In the first stage ... in other words, PayPal will be added later, but not in the beginning.

Adding PayPal might be easy and even secure enough, but if real money is involved with any other component (like here jOpenSim), everything should be tested very heavy before it goes public.

Of course, everybody is responsible him/her self for security issues. But I will try to avoid troubles for jOpenSim users initially as much as I can. And that means: testing, testing, testing,...
